kidnapping. a benton county sheriff is under fire tonight for living outside of the area he serves. kezi 9 news reporter evita garza is live in the studio... she spoke with sheriff steve jackson earlier and he says that's not the case. chynna, according to court documents... a former benton county sheriff deputy claims jackson moved to waldport in lincoln county...which is an hour away. he also claims jackson should get stripped of his position because he no longer lives in the county that he serves. but when i talked to jackson eariler.... he told me that he and his wife still reside in philomath. however, they bought a second home in waldport and he has been occasionally staying there because of current damages at the second home. in fact...he also says this case is keeping him from doing his job. "it seems like i spend more time dealing with these one or two people who are causing this stuff than actually serving the public and doing the good things the sheriff office does." according to the attorney of the the opposing party... the courts need to prove jacksons residency... if they can't, his postion will need to be re-filled during a special election. coming up at 5....hear more from the attorney represeting the former deputy who filed the claim in the first place. reportin in studio, evita garza
