((adlib wrap)) police are now releasing details about a string of break ins that happened saturday morning near autzen stadium they arrested a woman after she allegedly climbed into two apartments and threatened residents with a knife. kezi 9 news reporter emma jerome shows us what you can do to stay cool and safe. janina: " you know you're going to leave the doors open you know you're going to leave the windows open so just being aware. make sure you're at least alerted somehow if someone is trying to com ein through one of those areas." janina rager is a crime prevention specialist with e-p-d and she says that the department sees an uptick in breakins and trespassing every summer due to people leaving their doors and windows open. janina rager: "they know people are going to leave their windows open for air, and so with those we are getting a lot more calls of people saying hey someone just crawled through my window or came in through my garage door... so forth."> police arrested misty bayer saturday moprning after they say she broke into 2 apartments at the chase village complex in eugene. residents i spoke with say they see suspicious activity all the time. one said it's the same group of around*30 people who graze through dumpsters and prowl near their homes others say they are alarmed*and scared to learn this is happening in their complex will kiu: "i heard some noise on that day, but i couldn't... didn't know what exactly it was. it is absolutely not normal here...like break ins and stuff this is... i kind of feel this is safe residence area" rager says there are gadgets you can buy to arm your home... and hopefully prevent these types of break ins emma jerome: "a quick search on amazon and you will see plenty of home alarm systems with prices ranging from low to high suitable for any budget to prevent something like this from happening to you and hopefully keep your family safe." jr: "so when it gets pushed it gives off... that noise... ej: that'll wake you up." rager also says that being aware of people that don't look or act right near your residence is a great way to protect yourself. she says if you see something you feel isn't right then you should call the non emergency line right away in eugene emma jerome kezi 9 news. after bayer was arrested she was taken to the hospital with meth in her system she has not yet been booked into lane
