District officials said the vandalism to the HVAC system at Riverbend Elementary caused upwards of $100,000 in damage.

you for joining us. i'm chynna greene. as kezi 9 news reporter evita garza reports... tonight the school board is scrambling to get things fixed at riverbend elementary before kids go back to school. evita: "just last week, several heating and coolingunits were vandalized here at riverbend elemetary school in springfield. officials say the damages could exceed 100 thousand dollars. the school board is disscusing the money tonight." the h-vac system is on the roof of the building. police tell me that last tuesday three boys used ladders to climb up and then started stomping on the equipment. two of the boys are 14 and one is 15. all were charged with felony crimes. "their parents need to have a serious talk with them who every it was...it costs a lot of money to repair so it's very unfortunate." the board is meeting tonight to discuss spending emergency funds to fix the system. the idea is to get the a-c back on line before september when kids return. evita: "the meeting is starting at 5, and we'll have an update as soon as the school board makes a decision. we'll also hear from one parent who says it's unfair the school has to deal with vandalism. reporting in springfield, evita garza kezi 9
