near 60 degrees. a lack of regulations for services like air b and b is causing a rift in some in eugene neighborhoods. air b and b is a website... where you can sign up to rent your home to strangers. it has some saying it's changing their neighborhoods for the worst. and kezi 9 news reporter michael sevren shows the city is looking to add more rules before eugene takes the world stage. with thousand of tourist flocking to eugene for the 2021 world track and field championships - eugene city leaders says it could be tough to get room for the night. sot there is isn't enough hotels and motels being able to accommodate the people who are schedule to arrive. but right now a popular solution to help people book a place to stay has caused a rift in this north eugene neighborhood. sot: for them to change the complete dynamic it doesn't seem fair for us homeowners. that man... and others like brad backlund... are upset after their neighbors put their home on air bnb several months ago. one of the issues they're not happy about.. parking. sot: it's disturbed the neighbors and everybody, i don't know about everybody but a lot of people are upset about. the property owner didn't want to go on camera...but says he's following all the rules the city requires him. but that could change this fall. a city official tells me that new rules could be coming for residential areas. sot: this has grown into an issue that is really having an impact on our neighborhoods. stand up: city leaders tell me it's unlikely the city council will do an outright ban of short- term rentals in residential areas but may require the property owners to be present. sot: looking at what other communities locally and even nationwide do to have some kid licensing program or some regulations to address the impacts. in salem a license is required before you start renting out your home through air b and b. while in portland, they have to let their neighbors know beforehand. neighbors i spoke to hope whatever the city council decided they do it quickly sot: i think it needs to be done. in eugene
