Car crash causes Highway 101 closure, power outage

FLORENCE, Ore.-- A car crash involving a utility pole on Highway 101 in Florence Wednesday morning caused road closures and power outages, according to the city.

Highway 101 was closed from 25th Street through 27th Street, the city said. They asked that motorists take an alternate route as emergency crews divert traffic.

The crash also resulted in a power outage for some residents and businesses. According to Central Lincoln PUD, 458 customers were without power in Florence as of Wednesday morning. Crews are working to replace the damaged utility pole and restore power.

A fire hydrant was also struck in the crash, causing several residents to lose water service. Officials said they are waiting for the utility pole to be replaced before they can make repairs, which may take most of the day.

Traffic detours were in place as officials made repairs, the city said.
