Eugene man killed in Highway 126 crash near Noti

NOTI, Ore. -- A Eugene man is dead after a two-vehicle crash near Noti Tuesday afternoon.

At about 4:30 p.m., Oregon State Police responded to milepost 39 of Highway 126, three miles west of the town, after reports of a crash involving a pickup truck and a sedan.

Investigators said Gabriel Hostetler, 42, of Beaverton was headed west on the highway in a white 2018 Toyota Tundra when he reportedly made an unsafe pass and hit another vehicle head-on. Police said Mark Knight, 62, of Eugene was driving the silver 2000 Toyota Echo that was hit. He had been headed east at the time of the crash, and both vehicles came to a stop in the eastbound lane.

Knight was pronounced dead at the scene, but Hostetler was not injured.

Eastbound lanes of the highway were closed for four hours for the investigation.

It's not the first time a serious crash has taken place along this stretch of road. A deadly wreck back on Sept. 20 happened in roughly the same area. That crash involved a log truck.
